Wie gehabt, war die Etappe weitestgehend problemlos. Ein paar Unfälle, die einen zusammen mit der sicher dreistelligen Zahl an Kreuzen am Wegesrand, die wir bisher gesehen haben, an die Gefährlichkeit der Strassen erinnern. Von einfachen Kreuzen und Blumenkränzen bis hin zu bombastischen Gedenksteinen aus Marmor ist alles dabei. Wenn das so weiter geht, dann haben wir bis zur mongolischen Grenze eine vierstellige Zahl gesehen. Wahnsinn.
Im Hotel in Kasan wütet die FIFA. Strengste Sicherheitsvorkehrungen, die diesmal sogar ernst genommen werden, weisen auf den kommenden Confed Cup hin. Die Deutsche Mannschaft spielt hier am 22. Juni, aber bereits jetzt wird die komplette Marketingmaschinerie in der Stadt angeworfen.
Die Einkaufsstrasse von Kasan ist ähnlich wie in Nischni Nowgorod ein Schmuckstück. Auch der Kreml ist super. Hier mit der Besonderheit, dass neben den obligatorischen Kirchen eine grosse Moschee auf dem Gelände steht. Tartastan hat zu ca. 50% eine islamische Bevölkerung.
Am Abend ist dann Bescherung. Der Veranstalter hatte ein Einsehen mit den irrlichternden Teams und hat russische Navigationsgeräte gekauft. Damit sind dann hoffentlich wieder alle Teams voll einsatzbereit.
