A morning in the ER. Relaxing. An unexpected culinary experience.
Normalerweise meide ich Ärzte wie die Pest, aber die Schmerzen, der nicht enden wollende Ausfluss und die Sorge davor, letztlich während der Reise doch zum Arzt zu müssen – und das im engen Zeitplan und inkl. Verständungsproblemen – bewog mich, sehr früh am morgen in die Ambulanz des Universitätsklinikums Eppendorf zu fahren. Nach 3,5h Wartezeit die Diagnose: schwere Mittelohrendzündung, Trommelfell geplatzt. Antibiotika erforderlich. Super. Aber immerhin nichts noch Schlimmeres.
Under normal circumstances I avoid doctors like the plague, but the earaches, the never-ending efflux from the ear and the overwhelming concern to have to go to the doctor in Poland, Belarus or Russia – not knowing the language and wasting time – forced me to visit the ER of the University hospital in Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE). After 3,5 hours I received my diagnosis: Severe infection of the middle ear and an ruptured eardrum. Antibiotic treatment required. Excellent.
Am Abend dann eine kulinarische Überraschung: Das Restaurant VLET serviert klassische norddeutsche und Hamburger Küche neu interpretiert. Der Bismarck-Hering und das Labskaus waren einsame Spitze! Absolute Empfehlung.
In the evening we experienced a culinary surprise: The restaurant VLET serves classic dishes from Northern Germany and Hamburg (both not really known for their excellent food) newly interpreted. The Bismarck-Herring and Labskaus were fantastic! Clear recommendation.
