Die ersten mehr als zwanzig Jahre bestand unsere Reiseapotheke aus ein paar Aspirin und einer kleinen Packung Tabletten gegen Durchfall. Nur einmal – in Tansania – waren wir darüber hinaus auf medizinische Hilfe angewiesen. Als wir Kuba besuchten, baten wir einen befreundeten Arzt uns eine Reiseapotheke zusammen zu stellen, denn – so die gängige Meinung – es gibt zwar sehr gute Ärzte, aber nicht unbedingt ausreichend Medikamente auf Kuba. Wir mussten das zum Glück nicht testen.
Für diese Reise haben wir die Apotheke nun erneuert, da von recht vielen Medikamentenfälschungen im osteuropäischen und asiatischem Raum die Rede ist. Keine Ahnung, ob das “German Angst” ist.
Und so führen wir ein recht beeindruckendes Paket an Medikamenten, das durch die Ohrgeschichte auch noch angewachsen ist, mit uns. Einsatzgebiete:
- Unwohlsein & Durchfall
- Schmerzen
- Entzündungen
- Bakterielle Erkrankungen
- Wundversorgung
- Allergien
Dazukommen noch Insekten- und Sonnenschutz. Beim Insektenschutz setzen wir inzwischen nur noch auf DEET-haltige Mittel wie Anti-Brumm oder No-Bite. Alles andere ist wirkungslos und selbst DEET scheint nicht alle Insekten abzuhalten.
For more than twenty years our travel aid kit contained only aspirin and some pills to cope with diarrhea. Fortunately only in Tansania we needed medical support so far. When we planned to visit Cuba we asked a doctor to compile a medication package, because Cuba has certainly good doctors, but the medicine supply was uncertain back then. Fortunately we had no need for both.
For this journey we renewed our medical pack, because we read a lot about forgeries in the East European and Asian countries. I do not know whether this is true or mainly “German Angst”.
Our pack is able to cope with:
- gastrointestinal disorder
- pain
- inflammation
- bacterial diseases
- wound care
- allergies
In addition we have sun protection and insect repellents with us. We only use repellents containing DEET, like Anti-Brumm or No-Bite. Nothing else really helps and even DEET seems to fail in some cases.
