Krasnojarsk liegt zwischen vielen Hügeln am Fluß Jenissei. Von oben sieht man viele große, unattraktive Wohnsilos, aber im Zentrum gibt es auch nette Viertel und einzelne Gebäude. Auf einem der Hügel steht die Kapelle Paraskewa-Pjatniza mit Blick über die gesamte Stadt. Sie ist Motiv der 10 Rubelnote.
Im kleinen Wintersportgebiet südwestlich der Stadt ist auch jetzt im Sommer immerhin mässiger Betrieb. Die Sessellifte sind natürlich von österreichischen Herstellern gebaut.
Manche mögen es langweilig finden, wenn immer alles gleich ist – aber bei Wasserarmaturen kann ich jedoch nichts Schlechtes daran finden, wenn man weiß, woran man ist. Wer anderer Meinung ist, dem empfehle ich einen Russlandurlaub. Von der lustigen Idee durch die Anbringung von zu tiefen Ablageflächen die Nutzung generell zu begrenzen, berichtete ich ja schon in Brjansk. Inzwischen blicke ich auch auf einige Hotels mit warmen Wasser rechts und kaltem Wasser links zurück. Highlight in Nowosibirsk: Kalt- und Warmwasserhahn hatten die gleiche Drehrichtung, also beide gingen nach hinten auf und nach vorne zu. Hört sich jetzt erst einmal nicht so schlimm an, widerspricht aber unserer Gewohnheit von Rechtsgewinden für kalt und heiß total. Beim Aufdrehen geht es ja noch, aber das Zudrehen war ein Albtraum: Man dreht gewohnheitsmässig gegenläufig zunächst beide nach rechts. Ergebnis: Kalt zu, heiß volle Pulle = verbrüht. Vor Schreck dreht man jetzt beides gegenläufig in die andere Richtung: Ergebnis: Heiß zu, kalt volle Pulle = Herzinfarkt vor Schreck.

Krasnoyarsk is situated between several hills at the Jenesei river. From above the city is dominated by unattractive tower blocks, but the center offers some nice quarters and streets. The chapel Paraskewa-Pjatniza is located on one of the hills surrounding the city. It is depicted on the 10 rouble note.
The winter sport areal in the southwest of Krasnoyarsk is well-frequented. A chairlift (of course built by an Austrian manufacturer) brings us up the hill.
Some might find it pretty boring if all is always working in the same way. Myself really appreciate the idea of a standard for water taps. For those of you not agreeing with me I can only recommend a vacation in Russia. I already wrote about the creative way to mount shelves in Bryansk. In the meantime I can look back on several hotels with warm water on the right and cold water on the left. Highlight in Novosibirsk: Both valves opened towards the wall and closed towards the room. Sounds not totally inconsequential and too bad, but is a usability disaster for people used to right-handed threads. Opening is not the problem, but closing is a nightmare. Intuitively you turn both to the right. Result: Cold is closed, hot is on full throttle = you scald yourself. With shock you turn both valves in the other direction. Result: Cold is on full throttle, hot is closed = close to a hard attack.
